Contemporary dance is a genre that is hard to define strictly, because it is marked by fluidity, versatility, and freedom of expression. Unlike traditional dance forms, contemporary dance covers a wide range of movement, drawing inspiration from various dance styles, everyday gestures, and even improvisation. It emerged as a rebellion against the limits of classical dance, giving choreographers and dancers a platform for experiment and individual expression. In class we explore improvisation, floorwork, dynamic combinations, and body awareness. The first sessions focus on the basics and clean transitions.
Suitable with or without experience, including advanced students; we adapt to level, age, and goals.

Yes. KUNU Studio has contemporary classes for children (beginners aged 7–9, advanced aged 9–16) and for adults of every level (an “open” group). Classes adapt to the group; beginners learn fundamentals and clean transitions.
You will explore improvisation, floorwork, dynamic movement combinations, and body awareness. You will work on free creative expression, coordination, balances, and linking breath with movement. We dance barefoot or in socks.
Children’s classes last 50 minutes and run twice a week. Adult classes last 60 minutes and also run twice a week. The exact timetable is on the KUNU Studio website.
Contemporary dance gives freedom of movement and creative expression, develops body awareness and coordination, and improves mobility and strength without tension. It is a strong way to reduce stress, release emotion, and learn about yourself through movement.
Comfortable, unrestricted clothing — sport trousers and a T-shirt. We dance barefoot or in socks. Bring knee pads if you want them (especially when learning floorwork). Don’t forget water.
